Coraggio, fratelli miei, non lasciamoci scoraggiare né dai peccati commessi, né da alcuna illusione, da alcuna tentazione del diavolo. La strada può essere aspra e fangosa, ma Cristo, nostro medico, ci ha dato un rimedio per tutte le nostre infermità, un battesimo di sangue e di fuoco, in cui l'anima viene purificata e lavata da tutti i peccati, consuma e distrugge tutte le tentazioni e le illusioni del diavolo. (…) Finché l'uomo vive nella prigione corruttibile del corpo, sperimenta una legge perversa, che lo invita e lo tenta costantemente a peccare, la dolce bontà di Dio gli ha dato un rimedio continuo, che rafforza la sua ragione e libertà. Questo rimedio continuo è il fuoco dello Spirito Santo, che non muore mai e riversa continuamente la sua grazia e le sue benedizioni, così che ogni giorno possiamo applicare a noi stessi questo dolce battesimo, che ci è dato per grazia e non per merito. Così, quando l'anima guarda e vede in sé questo tesoro e fuoco dello Spirito Santo, si inebria talmente dell'amore del suo Creatore, che rinuncia completamente a se stessa (...) Vede e considera solo il suo nulla e la bontà di Dio nei suoi confronti; vede che questa Bontà infinita non vuole altro che il suo bene e allora il suo amore diventa perfetto verso Dio. Non ha altri pensieri, altre emozioni e non può trattenere lo slancio del suo desiderio, ma corre senza fardelli e senza legami, perché si è liberata da tutti gli ostacoli che potevano fermarla.

Le origini medioevali della chiesa di Cazzola sono ancora visibili nella struttura architettonica della parte absidale esterna, a conci regolari e con archetti ciechi a decoro della fascia terminale. Le prime testimonianze inerenti la presenza di un edificio sacro risalgono al 1230. La chiesa è infatti  ricordata tra le cappelle del pievato di Traversetolo nel Capitulum Decimarum Omnium Ecclesiarum del 1230. Ancora nelle decime del 1299 viene...
