O albero tre volte benedetto sul quale fu steso Cristo, Re e Signore, albero per il quale è finito colui che, ingannato Adamo per mezzo dell'albero, è caduto nella trappola del Dio inchiodato nella carne che dà la pace alla nostra anima. L'albero tre volte benedetto dove è stato inchiodato nella carne il redentore, il Signore, e per il quale è perito colui che aveva ingannato Adamo per mezzo dell'albero facendolo disobbedire, è quest'albero che l'ha risuscitato ed è diventato fonte di incorruttibilità per la nostra anima. Tu hai richiamato dall'esilio, grazie alla crocifissione, la razza d'Adamo il primo creato: incorruttibile infatti nella tua essenza, volontariamente ti sei fatto povero per noi, tu l'immutabile, Gesù, e nella carne che avevi assunto hai sopportato i dolori della Passione. (...) Il mantello regale, l'hai tu stesso intriso del tuo sangue, emblema del potere su tutti gli esseri del cielo, della terra e sottoterra, quando sei stato alzato in alto sulla croce: la croce che portavi sulle spalle, facendo con la tua Passione scaturire per me la risurrezione. In virtù della tua natura divina sei risorto dai morti, tu il Potente, il Forte, ed hai annientato il regno della morte: anche se, come un mortale, hai soggiornato nella tomba, Amico dell'Uomo, hai sottratto alla corruzione tutta la razza umana. Con fede proclamiamo beata, negli inni, quella che non ha conosciuto sposo, la purissima Madre di Dio, lei che ha messo al mondo il Maestro di tutti, colui che ci libera dall'antica condanna e dà la pace alla nostra anima.
